FALLing For My Books
FALLing For My Books
By Stefania Lozada
Summer is over but fall has arrived!
And what is better than reading a good book during this time of the year?
When you can hear the refreshing sound and smell of tiny raindrops.
When it is cold, but not enough to tremble without a cup of hot chocolate, tea or coffee.
A perfect background for every story. My favourite, if I had to say.
Or that shudder when the book is getting intense and you are so into it that you have to cover the paragraph that comes next to not spoil yourself about what will happen after.
I love that feeling, that excitement, that shiver running through your body.
And I bet most of the bookworms out there also love it.
So, if you are searching for some book recommendations that would not let you sleep until you are finish, full of plot twists, lots of tears, unrequited love, smirking cruel knights with horrible backstories and protagonists with PTSD or just a quick escape from the real world, you are on the right place.
I hope you fall for my books as I did for them.
1. Binding 13 (Boys of Tommen) Book 1:
For all people out there, who are a little masochist like me and love tragic stories that will make you cry your arse out, but will have a bittersweet ending where you will want more from each character.
This is one of my favorites, perfect for this season, set in Ireland Cork, a book full of emotions where you will have the chance to meet Shannon Lynch, a girl whose life hadn´t been easy at all, being a target of abuse all her life, scared but determined to survive each hit.
When Shannon meets Johnny Kavanagh, an all-rugby star who doesn´t allow anyone to distract him or disrupt his path (even though he is hiding a terrible injury), but let´s say that he develops a soft spot for the girl with “lonesome eyes” as he likes to say.
Both of the develop a weird friendship full of awkwardness, laughter, banter and more.
Johnny will discover that he cannot save Shannon from all her terrors, that she hides with her life, but he won´t abandon her, he will lie with her on the floor instead.
This book is everything, not only romance. It will make you laugh so hard (I say this because of you Gerard Gibson!) You will love every character, see their soft spots, traumas, defects, this is what makes them real.
Cloe Walsh (the author) gave them a deep and a full-detailed personality, one that is worth the reading.
I face-planted the floor with this book.
Binding 13 is a necessary read this fall.
2. The Cruel Prince by Holly Jackson:
If you love unpredictable plot twists that will blow your mind and mythical creatures, or if you are a fan of fantasy, this book is for you.
When they were young, Jude and her sisters saw their parents being murdered in front of them to then being kidnapped by the same big beast who took away their parents' lives and forced them to live in the same house and world as him. Faerie world, Elfhame.
Mortals in a world full of mythical creatures, not as pretty as it sounds. Right? Faerie is a dangerous place, and the fey are all powerful, cold-hearted, dangerous and cruel, but not as cruel as Cardan Greenbriar, who will make Jude´s life unbearable.
Jude admires the power that the fey have, the intelligence they carry with every act, but she knows that in order to survive in Faerie she has to be more.
Better than them.
How can a human be better than a magical creature?
But Jude is iconic, her personality is well created and one of my favorite characters.
Even though you are not a mythical creature lover, this book will make you turn into one. You transport into it and feel like you are there, witnessing every crazy plot twist, nothing is what it seems here.
To be honest, like most fantasy books, it takes a little while to take in the story, but when you do it you cannot escape. The good thing is that it is a saga - the third book is my favorite, but you have to read the first one and I bet you will fall for Faerie.
3. Powerless by Lauren Roberts:
Has it ever happened to you when you finished a book and loved it but you go on Instagram and Tik Tok and a lot of people are hating on it? Well, it happened to me with this one, but I don´t care. Shut Up Booktok! Powerless is beautiful. I fell in love with the story (And Kai Azer hehe) My platonic dream will always be to live in Ilya.
A sickness plagued the kingdom of Ilya, and only the strongest ones survived. The Elites received special abilities from the plague, making them powerful above Ordinaries who were the ones that didn´t get any.
King Edric decided to get rid of all of them, they didn´t fit between the exceptional Elites, so he banished them and every Ordinary who remained in the city of Ilya would be terribly executed.
Paedyn Gray was an Ordinary living on Ilya, she tricks everyone saying she´s a mundane, but one day, she unintentionally saves the prince Kai Azer, this surprises the whole kingdom because Kai is seen as the most powerful Elite, and now Paedyn is forced to participate on The Purge Trials, where Elites show their powers and fight each other till death.
How is Paedyn going to survive without powers? If someone discovers her, she will be executed.
But there´s nothing Paedyn Gray can´t do, she´s perseverant, obsessive and cunning and will attract everyone’s eyes, including the “Cocky Bastard” (As Paedyn loves to call him) Malakai Azer.
I fell in love instantly with this book, since the first chapter. I f you are a Hunger Games fan, this book has a similar idea, but every character is special, every game, every plot twist, every banter and interaction between the MFC and MMC will make your heart jump.
Hi there, reader! I hope you are interested in my recommendations and enjoy them as much as I did.
Thanks for reading and falling for my books.
And if you´d like someone to chat about more rec or new books, I would love to. This is my favorite conversation type, I would talk for hours, in this case write, but this is everything for today.
I hope you don´t cry too much with the first book I recommended.
Happy reading! 😊
