What will you be accomplishing in the Newspaper Club?

When you join the Newspaper Club, you will become part of a team of dedicated students who will help your writing and understanding of the topic of the article you choose to compose. You will be choosing a subject you would like to write about, like a passion project. Your editors will be communicating with you to figure out how you can improve your article. If you don’t have any ideas for an article, you can just ask us for an idea, and we would be more than glad to help you find one.

What are the benefits of you joining the Newspaper Club?

There are countless benefits to joining the Newspaper Club for us, and for you. Let’s start with a reward for you. To have the experience of writing a public, fact checked, professional article is an excellent incentive to join this club. This experience will enhance your formal writing skills, and while researching and reading you will be expanding your vocabulary, in addition to increasing your knowledge of current events. As well, the benefits of you joining the Newspaper Club are equally as great for us. The best part for us is that we get a new, bright member in our club, and each new person adds a great skill and feature to the club. I hope you will consider joining the Newspaper Club because you won’t just be writing articles, you will be joining a team of warmhearted friends.

How does the Newspaper club operate?

The Newspaper club is fairly new. We operate through a Teams channel, and host in-class meetings during Collaboration times. Our articles are released simultaneously because they are separated into groups of issues. Each issue requires time and effort from writers and editors, and this ensures that the articles we are posting are detailed and in-depth, to give our readers a thoughtful learning experience.

Archery Club

By Anna Segelken Templeton’s new Archery Club had its first meeting on Friday, October 4th. Ten people came out to shoot some arrows and have some fun. As president April Vander Ster says, archery is “good for training certain muscles, and for endurance and such, but I think more importantly, it’s something that can help with your mental health”. Members can expect an environment of calm, concentration, and community. I had the pleasure of trying out some archery, and it made me feel powerful, grounded, and connected to the past. Archery has been practiced for centuries, with evidence of the bow and arrow dating back approximately 72,000 to 60,000 years. Though the development of firearms rendered archers obsolete in warfare, the practice of archery has remained for hunting and sport, both competitive and recreational, like this club.
